Simon Murray named Third Team Academic All-America® by Collegiate Sports Communicators

AUSTIN, Texas — On Tuesday, in a release by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), Arkansas Tech senior outfielder/pitcher Simon Murray was named Third Team Academic All-America®.

A native of Lee's Summit, Mo., Murray becomes the fourth Wonder Boy baseball player to earn the prestigious academic honor and is the first since Dylan McDearmon received first team plaudits in 2019.

This past season, Murray, a two-way player, capped his two-year career at Tech and enjoyed a breakout season at the plate. After being limited to just pitching his first season due to an injury, Murray recorded over 150 at-bats this season and hit .314 (48-for-153) with 50 runs scored, six doubles, seven home runs and 41 RBIs.
In the classroom, Murray recently graduated Summa Cum Laude (4.0 GPA) with a double major in Music and Spanish. In his first year in the music department at Tech, Murray was second-chair oboe in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and first-chair in the Wind Octet. This past year, he was first-chair in in the Wind Quintet.
