FAYETTEVILLE — Mario Sategna has resigned as the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s track team’s field events coach, Arkansas Coach Chris Bucknam confirmed Wednesday night.

“Mario Sategna resigned for personal reasons yesterday (Tuesday),” Bucknam said. “He did a great job for us in a lot of ways. I appreciated his hard work and his efforts and wish him luck in the future. I wish him the best and appreciate his efforts while he was here.”

Joining Bucknam’s staff in 2018, after 14 coaching at Texas for 14 years including four as head coach, Sategna coached Arkansas’ field events on Razorbacks teams that won the 2020 and 2021 SEC Indoor Championships and earlier this month won the SEC Outdoor Championships.

Strength coach Mat Clark will coach the field events as the Razorbacks prepare for next week’s NCAA West Regional Outdoor meet in College Station, Texas.

“Matt Clark our strength coach was a 3-time All-American in the decathlon and heptathlon for me at Northern Iowa,” Bucknam said. “He will serve on an interim basis for the remainder of the year.”
