MOUNTAIN HOME — With the addition of Norfork to the 1A-1 conference, teams will have to travel a little further.
Norfork is hosting the Class 1A Region 1 Tournaments in Mountain Home beginning on Thursday. The three-day event concludes on Saturday.
Games will be played at the Clysta Willet Park in Mountain Home.
Jasper comes into the regional tournament as the top seed in softball and the No. 2 seed in baseball.
Class 1A Softball
The Lady Pirates will face Western Yell County in the opening game of the tournament.
Jasper will play at 10 a.m. on Thursday with a victory taking the team to the semifinals on Friday. That game would be at noon.
A first round victory would move teams to the state tournament that will be held in Harrison.
If the Lady Pirates win their first round game, they will face the winner of the County Line and Lead Hill contest.
Lead Hill is the third seed from the league and County Line is a second seed from the 1A-2.
That game will be played at 12:30 p.m.
Scranton won the 1A-2 and will face off against the fourth seed from the 1A-1, Omaha.
Those teams play at 3 p.m.
The winner of the game will play the winner of the Norfork and Magazine will play the Scranton and Omaha contest. That game will be played at 5:30 p.m.
The championship game will be Saturday.
Class 1A Baseball
Norfork won the top seed in the 1A-1 and will start the tournament at 10 a.m.
The Panthers will play Western Yell County.
Lead Hill’s Tigers was the third seed from the 1A-1 and will play the No. 2 team, Magazine. The two teams play at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
The winner of those two games will play at noon on Friday in the semifinals.
At 3 p.m., Scranton, who is the top seed from the 1A-2, will face Omaha. The Eagles come in as the No. 4 team from the 1A-1.
Jasper was the second seed from the 1A-1. They will face Mulberry at 5:30 p.m.
The winner of the Scranton/Omaha game will face the winner of the Jasper/Mulberry contest at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
