The Pioneers of North Arkansas College wanted to put last week’s three-game losing streak behind them.
On Tuesday evening against Link Year Prep, they did just that with a 114-85 victory at Pioneer Pavilion.
Northark established the lead in the first half and then extended the margin in the second half.
At the halftime buzzer, the Pioneers held a six-point lead over the Lions, 46-40.
Both teams improved their scoring in the second half. Link Year added another 45 points to its total while the Pioneers held nothing back.
Northark exploded for 68 points to exceed the century mark for the ninth time this season.
Field goal percentage was at a high mark for the home team as the Pioneers shot 60.3 percent from the field including 46.4 percent from behind the arc.
Trent Lippoldt returned to the lineup after an injury to lead the team in scoring after tallying 28 points in Tuesday’s win. Lippoldt also led the team with seven rebounds. Elliott Brooks collected 15 points with four of those shots coming from downtown. Chris Hill and Hayden Thomas each poured out 13 points in the win. Cyrus Alexander scored 12 points while dishing out six assists. Dontae Tayler and Nathan Schwartz scored 10 points apiece, Seth Beussink nine and Kaleb Woldeyes and Noah Gordon two each.
The win improves the Northark squad to a 10-6 record and they return to action on Thursday with a 7 p.m. game against National Park Community College. These two squads met earlier in the season and the Nighthawks defeated the Pioneers, 105-84.
