The North Arkansas Partnership for Health Education (NAPHE) is hosting an interactive workshop on Pickleball and Prevention at the Brandon Burlsworth Youth Center from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., on Oct. 8. Pickleball has become one of the most social sports and provides an opportunity for people of all ages to play.
Open to community members including parents, educators, coaches, civic groups, law enforcement officers, business leaders, or others interested in the topic and training.
Participants in this workshop will listen to a brief presentation on the 8 Dimensions of Wellness: Emotional, Spiritual, Intellectual, Physical, Environmental, Financial, Occupational, and Social along with how substance use prevention strategies can be incorporated through sports and physical activity. They will then proceed to learn the basic skills needed for Pickleball, as well as compete against each other through game matches.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable athletic clothing and shoes to have a full range of motion during the hands-on activities during this workshop. Pickleball equipment will be provided for all participants to use at the event and lunch will be provided to conclude the workshop.
Registration is required as space is limited. For more information/registration, contact Kyle Evatt at kyle.evatt@northark.edu or 870-391-3367.
