On Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Harrison Police Department, Boone County Sheriff, NAPHE, and the Drug Enforcement Administration will host DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at Harrison City Hall 118 Industrial Park Rd and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office 5800 Law Drive. Tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs will be collected at this event.
For more than a decade, the event has helped Americans easily rid their homes of unneeded medications—those that are old, unwanted, or expired—that too often become a gateway to addiction.
In partnership with local law enforcement and support from NAPHE’s community teams from the Ignite Drug Free Communities Coalition, Region 2 Prevention Project, Harrison Middle School Project Prevent, Harrison High School Ignite, and Northark Criminal Justice Club, bi-annual Take Back Days has successfully removed several hundred pounds of medication from circulation in our communities. The community is invited to join with us in support of this effort to reduce access and thus reduce the potential for serious harm.
Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
