Newspaper correspondents are local historians and the Newton County Historical Society is sharing that history by posting columns published in local news papers on its Facebook pages.

Several of the folks of this community are attending the revival at Jasper, that is being conducted at the tent on the Fairgrounds.
Betty Sue Lackey gave her birthday offering, Sunday at Sunday School.
Mrs. J.D. Gibson gave their wedding anniversary offering, Sun.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Woodell and children of Valley Springs visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Villines, Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lovell and children of Harrison visited relatives here over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lovell of Tulsa, Okla. and Mrs. Coral McDaniels of Kansas City visited here over the weekend, with their sister, Mrs. Tom Villines and family.
Recent visitors or Mr. and Mrs. Jerald McElhaney were his brother Kenny and B. of Denver, Colo. and Mrs. McElhaney's brother, Son Lohorn of Dallas, Texas.
Bill Kilgore returned to Springdale, Sunday evening after being on vacation last week.
Sunday dinner guests of the Taft Kilgores' were her brother and wife, Mrs. and Mrs. Ray Owens and T. C. McCullough of Greenwood, and Mrs. Kilgores' aunt, Mrs. Nancy Bryant and son, Rev. Hershell Bryant, both of Valley Springs and Mrs. Bryant's daughter, Mrs. Nettie Martin of Western Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Preston Lackey and children visited her sister, Mrs. Ed Burton and family, Sunday afternoon.
Tuesday evening visitors of the Taft Kilgores' were Rev. and Mrs. Griffin and Cheryl of Mt. Sherman and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Villines and David Clark.
Recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Ike Linebaugh, June, Tina and Ivan were his brother and family of Dallas, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Oldham and Kathy of Jasper were Wednesday evening supper guests of the Taft Kilgores. Ed Burton and girls, Pam and Vicki also visited the Kilgores that evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Merl Brisco and son of Harrison visited here Sunday with her aunt and husband, the Frank Kilgores and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Villines.
Oliver Villines came from Kansas City and spent the weekend here with his wife and daughter. They accompanied him back for a visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Coleman and daughter, Mrs. John Clary and son of Lead Hill visited here Monday with Clyde's sister and husband, the Frank Kilgores and with Mrs. Coleman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Villines.
