Glen A Younger, 84, of Western Grove, died Sunday, June 5 (2016) in Harrison. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at the chapel at Hillcrest Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Brother Lannie Younger and Bob Meredith officiating. Interment is in Western Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Home, 1111 Maplewood Road, Harrison, AR 72601.

He was born March 6, 1932, in Pindall, to Sam and Myrtle (Bowden) Younger.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 62 years, Delsie; his brothers, Max Younger and W. H. Younger; his sister, Earnestein Oliver; and an infant grandson.

Glen graduated from Western Grove High School and played on the basketball team. He met the love of his life, Delsie Morris, in high school and they were married March 10, 1951. He worked at Oberman's Garment Factory and Claridge Products a number of years along with running a dairy farm. In 1970, he stopped working at a public job and went to dairy farming until 1993. He was known for his registered and high producing Jersey cattle. He and his wife Delsie were selected as Searcy County Farm Family of the Year in 1973.

Glen was a Masonic Lodge member. He enjoyed his cattle, his dog, “Frosty,” gardening and especially Gina's basketball, where he was able to watch her play in a recent Alumni game and proceeded to tell her, “you're a little rusty.” He also enjoyed Jeff's drag racing and being with his great-grandsons at school activities, sporting events, or in the show ring.

Glen is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Steve Cantrell, of Western Grove; his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jeff and Tammie Cantrell, of Western Grove; his granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Gina and Tony Claassen, of Branson, Missouri; and three great-grandsons, Carter, Cooper and Colter Cantrell, of Western Grove.

He is also survived by his Hillcrest family that he loved very dearly.

Pallbearers are the staff of Crestview.

Honorary pallbearers are residents of Crestview, the staff of Hillcrest Home, Dr. Tom Leslie, Dr. David Stills and Amanda Chitsey, APN.

The family wishes to express special appreciation to the staff of Hillcrest Home for the wonderful care given to Glen and a special thanks to the boys of Crestview household.
