Stacie Bloomfield of Gingiber, an Arkansas-based artist and Moda fabric designer, will be the featured presenter at the Northwest Arkansas Quilting Workshop which continues Thursday, April 17, at the Signature Bank Community Room in downtown Harrison. The series of weekly workshops began last April 3 and will conclude Thursday, May 1.
Material Girls Sewciety EHC Project Club and Corner Stone Bank are the sponsor's of the April 17 workshop that will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m.
William Tollett, executive director of the House of Hope in Harrison, will take part in the opening welcome at 9:10 a.m. with Tamara Allen, chair of the NWAQW.
Amber Poemones of Sew Simple Quilt shoppe, Ozark, Missouri, will present "What's New at the Shoppe," at 9:15 a.m.
Bloomfield will follow with the Quilter's College I presentation. Bloomfield will share the process of creating her original designs and how they are transformed into the fabric and goods that encourage and inspire. Her products include tea towels, aprons, paper and home goods. Her fabrics are sold through local quilt shops and online.
The rest of the day's schedule includes Pass the Hat at 10:20 a.m., followed by Quilt Crafts with Virginia and Friends as they make "Scrappy Pin Cushions."
There will be door prizes and fat quarter bundles and continuation of quilters college I.
At 11:25 a.m. Shawn Williams, of Shawn's Sewing Center, Springfield, Missouri, will preview his afternoon session where he covers many topics related to best practices including choice of threads, needles, domestic sewing machine and long-arm care and troubleshooting.
Mystery Quilt step 3 will be at 11:55 a.m. followed by show and tell at 12:10 p.m. Dismiss and lunch at 12:30 P.M. with Williams' final presentation of the day from 1:15-3 p.m.
Looking ahead to the April 24 workshop, headliners include presentations from vendor, Dianna Sews and More of Nixa, Missouri; Calico Cutups Quilt Guild's presentation, "3 Yard Quilts and Trunk Show." There will be a special afternoon session of Sewing with Friends. Help will be offered on this year's mystery quilt, individual UFOs, and demonstrations of long stitch hand quilting techniques.
