Kenley Morgan landed the largest fish during the Compton Volunteer Fire Department's fishing derby. This specimen weighed in at 4 pounds, 2 ounces.

The Compton Volunteer Fire Department sponsored its fishing derby May 17 at the Compton Pond located below the fire station. The fire department thanked Newton County Farm Bureau for its support of the annual derbies. Trae Autrey of NCFB presented the First Fish prize to Jaxon Carter.
