A community salad luncheon used to raise funds for four local charities. The luncheons stopped during COVID and never started back up.
Newton County Community Matters, a coalition of faith-based and non-profit organizations serving the people of Newton County, will consider ways to resume funding of various charities supported by this effort lost that income. This was presented at the last general meeting, Feb. 27, as a community need.
Community Matters was asked to consider coordinating a county-wide effort to, in some ways, raise funds to replace that income. The Leadership Team, at its last meeting, discussed this and agreed this is in line with the organization's mission and purpose and presented it as a recommendation to the general membership. Janice Mann recommended a task group form to work on this effort.
