Community Matters sets dues for membership

Posted

Community Matters, a coalition of faith-based and non-profit organizations serving the people of Newton County, announced at its last meeting annual dues are $25 per organization or individual. The fee was initiated last year to help cover operating expenses and the costs associated with establishing a 501c3. The process, written requests for payment, record keeping, etc. had not been established at that time. Some organizations and individuals paid dues in 2024, and some waited to be billed.
The leadership team discussed how to best handle this situation. It was decided that the Leadership Team would make a recommendation to the general membership that dues paid in 2024 would be rolled over to 2025. Bills would be sent to all members in 2025 and if already paid in 2024 the bills would be marked paid. Members who choose to pay will be considered full voting members. Those who choose not to pay dues will be considered associate members with voice but no vote.

Going forward dues will be collected each year between January and March with final due date being March 31st for the next fiscal year. Failure to pay dues will move an organization or individual from full membership to associate membership. Reporting on dues collected will be made at the end of the fiscal year in June. Dues will cover July 1 to June 20 which is the fiscal year.
Community Matters members meet the fourth Thursday of each month, at 10 a.m., at the Jasper Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Jasper.
