Bullfrog harvest has begun

Posted

The largest frog species in North America, the American Bullfrog typically ranges from 3.5 to 6 inches in length.
American Bullfrogs inhabit freshwater lakes, ponds and rivers.
They thrive in warm waters that offer aquatic vegetation which provides foraging and cover.
Bullfrogs are also found in man-made ditches and canals which offer breeding and foraging opportunities.
Arkansas has an open season on Bullfrogs from June 1 - midnight Dec., 31.

Only bullfrogs may be harvested, and a valid fishing license is required.
The limit is 18 frogs per day, measured from noon one day until noon the next day.
Hunters may use bow-and-arrow, hook-and-line, a long multi-tined spear called a gig, or they may simply snatch them up by hand.
