The Newton County Animal Welfare organization recently released impact numbers from services delivered to pets locally since its founding in 2024.
The small non-profit group of volunteers receives local community support and works in partnership with Good Shepherd Humane Society of Carroll County and Fido Fixers (its mission is to provide low-cost spay and neuter services for dogs and cats in economically distressed areas, mostly in the Southern United States).
The report states 168 total pets have received services. Broken down, here are the services that were provided:
• 104 dog vaccinations (Rabies & DHPP)
• 126 cat vaccinations (Rabies & DHPP)
• 43 dogs spayed
• 36 dogs neutered
• 51 cats spayed
• 38 cats neutered
• 5 mobile clinics were held in the county.
• 6 active volunteers
• 490 pounds of pet food distributed.
