The Pirate Cove watched the home team put points on the board Tuesday night in 1A-1 basketball action against Mt. Judea.

The senior boys took. 65-32 win over the Eagles while the Lady Pirates finished their contest with a 74-27 victory over the Lady Eagles.


Senior Boys

Jasper won the scoring difference in every quarter on their way to a 65-32 win over the Eagles.

Sam Parker scored 10 points in the opening frame along with six from Mason Kellogg and four by Layton Smith.

Mt. Judea’s Dylan Richardson hit a pair of buckets and two points from Trenton Fought were all the visiting team managed as the Eagles trailed by a 24-6 score at the first break.

Richardson scored the only Eagle field goal in the second period in a six-point team effort while Jasper added another 18 points led by nine points from Cole Villines.

The Pirates began the second half with a 42-12 lead and scoring slowed for Jasper while it picked up for Mt. Judea.

Five players scored for the Eagles led by Tyler Smith’s five points as Mt. Judea tallied 14 points.

Jasper’s Calvin Smith scored seven points to lead Jasper to a 57-26 lead after a 15-point quarter.

The Mercy Rule kept the clock running in the final period and Jasper outscored Mt. Judea by an 8-6 score to take the win.

Calvin Smith scored 16 points in the Jasper win. Kellogg and Parker added 10 points each, Villines nine, Reynolds and Jesse Harrison five each, Layton Smith and Nick Larimer four apiece and Mason Smith one.

Richardson finished with 10 points for Mt. Judea. Smith added nine, Chase Campbell four, Dakota Recoy three and Fought, Aaron Royce and Landon Smith two each.


Senior Girls

The Lady Pirates took control of the game early and finished with a 74-27 win over Mt. Judea.

Scoring came in piles for the home team Lady Pirates as they scored 54 points in the first half. 

Mt. Judea was held to 17 points in the first two periods and trailed, 54-17, at halftime.

The offense slowed slightly for Jasper in the second half but the Lady Pirates were still able to double up on their opponent by a 20-10 score to finish with a 74-27 conference win.

Kaylee Reynolds scored 28 points to lead the way for Jasper. Brooklyn Flud added 14 points, Aubrey Henderson 12, Halle Emerson eight, Brielle Brasel five, Delaney Cox and Haley Daniels three each and Haley Sexton one.

Mykala Janae Battershell scored 13 points for the Lady Eagles. Audrey Campbell and Jessi Ward added seven points apiece.
