Arkansas Game & Fish Commission Hunter Education Courses will be available at two locations in August. The courses begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 6 p.m.

The first course will be offered at the Ponca Elk Education Center on Saturday, Aug. 3.

The second course will be offered at the Carroll Electric Cooperative Building in Jasper on Saturday, Aug. 17.

Hunter Education is mandatory for anyone born after 1968 to legally hunt in Arkansas. Arkansas certification is honored in any other states requiring Hunter Education.

The class is open to all ages, but material is based on a sixth grade reading level.

All youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

No guns or ammo are allowed in the classroom.

Live firing is not required.
