Virgie Ramsey, 105, of Illinois, died in Illinois, Sunday, Sept. 29 (2019). Visitation is 10-11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison. Funeral is 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Marshall Boggs officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
She was born in Parthenon, Sept. 23, 1914 Her parents were Osborne and Gertie (Swain) Casey. Her brothers and sisters were Dennis, Velma, Arthur, Audie, Dale, Garland, lmogene, Mary Jo and Geneva.
In 1932, Virgie married Oford Ramsey, of Deer. The marriage lasted almost 45 years, until he died in 1977. They had three daughters, Virginia, Christine and Cleta; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family moved from Newton County in 1948 and farmed in Batavia. Virgie was a member of Batavia Baptist Church. She worked at the Levi Strauss. Virgie was also employed by Nagle Chase Manufacturing, Lyon Manufacturing, and Hammond Organ Company. She and Oford moved back to Arkansas upon retiring after having worked many years in Chicago.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
