Ruth Rodgers, 92, of Harrison, died at Hillcrest Home in Harrison on Wednesday, Jan. 16 (2019). Funeral was 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 21, at Hillcrest Home. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, Harrison.

She was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Low Gap, the daughter of the late Berry and Bessie (Rice) Kilgore. Ruth was of the Baptist faith. She lived in Low Gap and began working at age 16. She married Bernie Keeling at the age of 18. She worked at Oberman's in Harrison. After the loss of her husband, Ruth moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she met and married her husband, Sallie Rodgers. Ruth resided in Virginia Beach for over 47 years. While in Virginia Beach, Ruth worked on a navy base and later went on to work as a deputy at a women's jail for 10 years.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include her sons, Bernie Keeling and Carson Edmonson; brothers, Kenneth Kilgore and Truman Kilgore; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Craig Keeling, Brian Capps, Vic Yoder, Steve McBee, Bill Lovell and Curtis Lane.

Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Hillcrest Home.
