Mary Swope

Mary Jane Owen Swope died at North Hills Life Care & Rehab on Friday, April 24 (2020). Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 29 (2020), at Baptist Ford Cemetery with Pastor Terry Mudd officiating.

She was born and raised in Greenland. Her parents are the late Clabe and Sadie C. Daniel Owen.

Mrs. Swope was very active in Washington County 4-H and a leader in the Elkins 4-H Club. She was formerly employed by Campbell Department Store. She was a lifelong member of the Richland Community Church.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Boyce and Wayne Owen; two sisters, Billie Owen and Audrey Mae Guinn; husband, Stanley C. Swope of 40 years (married October 4, 1953); her children, James Earl “Jim” Swope and daughter, Sarah Lee Hamm.

Jane is survived by a son-in-law, Bill Hamm; two grandsons, James Douglas Hamm and Austin Robert Hamm, all of Elkins; nephew, Michael Owen of Hutchinson, Kansas and niece, Sandy Lankford of Castle Rock, Colorado.

Pallbearers will be Charles Bradshaw, Gary Hood, Darrell Tunstill, Bill Smiley, Kevin Jones, Jimmy Hamm and Austin Hamm.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Burnett and Herman Jones.
