Ferris Norton III, 68

Ferris Wendel Norton III, 68, died at his ancestral home, May Farmstead, on the banks of Cave Creek in Newton County, Sunday, Oct. 13 (2019). Cremation and arrangements were with Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison.

He was born in Dallas in 1951. He studied art at Hendrix College and was a lifetime member of the Art Students League in New York City, where he studied sculpting. His love of carving marble culminated and was immortalized in his sculpture Earthpeace at Pilgrim Place in Claremont, California. His talents were also utilized nationwide in his family business, Norton Arts, Fine Art Conservation.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Ferris W. Norton, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth (Ragsdale) Norton; his daughter, Vanessa McKuin; his mother, Constance Waddell and step-father, Rev. Don Waddell; three brothers, a grandson and other relatives.

Memorials can be made to the Buffalo River Foundation, the Buffalo River Watershed Alliance, The Ozark Society, or a favorite charity.
