Formerly of Red Bud, Illinois, she was born in Low Gap, on March 20, 1921. She was the third of five children of Delhi and Lewis House. She was married to James Doyle Boling on March 22, 1942, in Jasper. The minister was Cain Boling, her future father-in-law. Edith and Doyle had four children, Anita Ann Boling Alka, Jimmie Ranetta Boling Adams, John David Boling (deceased) and Rita Kay Boling. There are five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
