Clinton Smith, 85, Batavia

Clinton Smith, 85 of Batavia passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16 (2020) at home.

The son of Homer and Elsie (Farmer) Smith was born at Vendor on January 23, 1935. He attended Capps Full Gospel Church and drove a dump truck for many years.

Clinton enjoyed vegetable gardening and being outdoors. He loved to spend time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He was a fun-loving person and there was never a dull moment around him. Clinton was one of the nicest people you would ever meet, but he had a mischievous side and he liked to cut-up. In his younger years, he loved playing the Dobro in church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Smith, his parents and his brothers, James, Vernon, Clifford, Linous and Charles Smith.

Clinton is survived by his children and their spouses, Roger and Nancy Smith and Janet and Bob Ricketts; a brother, Bobby Smith and wife Connie; two sisters, Alta Watson and Darlene Kilgore; sisters-in-law, Lovida Smith and Gearldean Smith; his grandchildren, Crystal Norman, J.W. Smith, Jeremy Ricketts and wife Elizabeth, Alisha Hatcher and husband Neil; his great grandchildren, Randy Smith, Austin Norman, Sha and Shi Smith, Liam Brumfield, Garrett Ricketts, Brooklyn Hatcher and Maci Hatcher and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who loved him and will miss him.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 20 at Capps Full Gospel Church with Bro. Ed Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Sanders Cemetery.

Visitation will be open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Pallbearers are Jeremy Ricketts, J.W. Smith, Randy Smith, Austin Norman, Dillen Nichols and Jimmy Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Janet Ricketts to help defray funeral expenses.

In compliance with the State of Arkansas mandate, all attendees over age 10 are required to furnish and wear a mask, and occupancy is limited for funerals and visitations at the funeral home/church to a 2/3 capacity of the facility.
