Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler said his office received a call on Sunday afternoon that a girl was at a business in the county stating she had ran away from a home in Missouri a few days earlier and wanted to get back home. A Deputy arrived and found the juvenile and confirmed she was entered into the National Crime Information Center's national database as a runaway juvenile and that she had been brought to Newton County to visit her "boyfriend."

The Deputy transported her to the Newton County Sheriff's Office and contacted the Polk County, Missouri Sheriff's Office and the girl's mother. At the Sheriff's Office, Investigators learned the 13 year old had been brought here to meet 19 year old Nicholas B. Hutton, whom she had met on Facebook. The girl stated that while she was with Hutton, they had sexual intercourse.

Investigators interviewed Hutton, who also admitted to the sexual encounter with the girl. A check of Hutton's phone also revealed nude and inappropriate photos of the girl. Hutton was initially arrested for Rape. After the photos were discovered Hutton will additionally be charged with Possession of Sexually Explicit Digital Material. Hutton was booked into the Newton County Jail.

Sheriff Wheeler said "It's so easy now for children to fall prey to folks who can use social media and other outlets to find victims. I'm just glad this young lady is now safe and back with her family in Missouri."

Wheeler further encourages parents to be well aware of what their children are viewing and taking part in while online or using social media, "you're still the parent and have every right to know what your child is looking at and who they are talking to online." Wheeler said.
