New state police facility nearing completion

Work progresses for the new Arkansas State Police Troop I headquarters building being built on US 65 South near the Boone County Jail facility.

Landscaping is being done and the new parking lot will be paved next week. The new building will be around 12,000 feet in size and will house the offices for  the State Police highway patrol officers, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), the Crimes Against Children Division (CACD) offices, and the Drivers Testing offices.

The new Troop I headquarters is expected to be completed in July of this year. The contractor for the facility is Western Millwright Construction Services.

Troop I is the headquarters for the State Police in Boone, Baxter, Newton, Marion, Searcy, Stone, Fulton, and Izard counties. Captain Wesley Smithee is the commander for Troop I.
