The National Agricultural Law Center hired two new staff attorneys this summer.

The new staff attorneys will be focusing on food safety, food labeling and environmental law.

FAYETTEVILLE — The National Agricultural Law Center, a unit of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, has grown by two this past summer after welcoming new staff attorneys Christina Cole and Brigit Rollins.

Cole, from Little Rock, Arkansas joined the team June 3. She is bringing with her a degree from University of Arkansas School of Law as well as three years of experience as a part of Walmart’s International Ethics and Compliance team, where she worked with associates in 11 international markets on a variety of issues ranging from trade, food safety and safety regulations. She also taught Law School Admission test preparation and served as a guide for law school admissions and law school preparation.

“I’m excited to join the National Agricultural Law Center,” Cole said. “The Center is a leader in the research of agricultural and food law issues and I’m looking forward to contributing to their work.”

“My focus will be on food safety and food labeling,” she said, “and, because there are many emerging issues in this area, I’m eager to get started.”

Before graduating from Lewis & Clark School of Law, Rollins worked as a research fellow as a part of the Center’s partnership with the Western Resources Legal Center, affiliated with the Lewis & Clark Law School. She began her position as staff attorney August 19. Rollins is from the heart of California’s wine country in Sonoma County, and her surroundings gave her a passion for agriculture and the environment. Her focus at the Center will be on environmental law.

“I am very excited to join the team at the National Agricultural Law Center,” Rollins said. “As someone starting out in this field, I could not imagine a better place to work.”

“We’re very pleased to meet another key strategic goal for the Center in helping fulfill our national research and information mission – adding in staff attorneys to focus on food safety and food labeling as well as environmental law,” said Harrison Pittman, director of the Center. “This strengthens our ability to better serve our stakeholders in the months and years ahead.”
