Legion adopts Walk of Honor

The Newton County Veterans Walk of Honor began several years ago as a community project. Bricks bearing the names of military veterans began to replace the sidewalk around the courthouse. The project has recently been adopted by Campbell Edgmon Post 93 of the American Legion in Jasper. Post Commander Mike Black said the post wants to make sure the Walk of Honor is up-to-date and anyone who has ordered a brick, but has not yet been made a part of the installation, to contact the post. The post will continue to sell bricks for the walk for a nominal fee.

Jeff Dezort, Newton County Times editor, has worked at the newspaper since 2001. Before that he was a reporter, photographer and assistant editor of the Harrison Daily Times.
