Authorities search for missing woman in Newton County

Pamela Samuels-Louro, aged 57, was last seen in Garland County on June 3 and had made reference to the Mt. Judea area to family. Her truck was located Sunday morning near the Sam's Throne Campground off Highway 123 south of Mount Judea.

Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler said authorities had been searching an area near Mt. Judea all day Sunday after a truck was located that belonged to a woman reported as missing and endangered out of Garland County.

Sheriff Wheeler said Pamela Samuels-Louro, aged 57, was last seen in Garland County on June 3, and had made reference to the Mt. Judea area to family. Her truck was located Sunday morning near the Sam's Throne Campground off Highway 123 south of Mount Judea.

Receipts in the truck showed her to have been in Western Grove on June 4.

Bloodhounds and other K9s, along with ground searchers, searchers on mules, ATVs and UTVs and high angle personnel were used to search the area. Some clues were located, but Samuels-Louro was not.

Several bits of evidence were located that indicate she may have been mobile in the area for a period of time and may be injured. Wheeler said authorities still have several ways to go with the investigation. "We can't rule out the possibility that she made it back to the road and was picked up by someone. But, at the same time, we can't say that she's not still in the large wooded area near Sam's Throne." Wheeler said there are some indicators of mental illness and she may be suicidal.

Samuels-Lourno is described as 5'5", 172 pounds with hazel eyes and grey hair cut very short. She is believed to be travelling with an older small white dog that is a Chihuahua-terrier mix. Samuels-Lourno often wears caps or beanies.

Wheeler asks anyone who may have saw someone walking near Mt. Judea to contact his office at (870) 446-5124.
