Buffalo National River Partners and Boone County Library will present Joyce Umbach, BNR Park Ranger, "Get to Know Your National Parks – Independence National Historic Park," Tuesday, June 26,  at 5:30 p.m., at the library located at

221 W Stephenson Ave., Harrison.

John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail that Independence would be celebrated “with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.”

And so we do. Park Ranger Joyce Umbach will take us on a tour of the places our founding fathers worked to create this nation and remind us how it happened.

Buffalo National River Park Ranger Joyce Umbach began her career with the NPS as a volunteer the summer after her sophomore year in college. Despite the occasional hiatus, she returned to the NPS seasonally and entered her 1st permanent position in 1999 at Independence National Historical Park.  Buffalo National River is the 10th park of her career.
