Earth Day observed with clean-up

In celebration of Earth Day, Buffalo National River Partners sponsored a river and trail cleanup from Ponca to Steel Creek. There were  55 volunteers representing several groups including Tak-A-Hike Club,  Buffalo River Watershed Alliance, Ozark Society, BNRP and Arkansas Canoe Club.

A special thanks goes to FedEx Ground in Harrison who brought 26 employees.

A substantial amount of trash was retrieved including several metal barrels, an old washing machine, tires, and lots of clothing. Fifty trash bags of material over filled a large pickup truck.

A big thank you goes to Lost Valley Canoes and Buffalo Outdoor Center who provided great crews along with canoes and shuttle service. This is the first of hopefully three river cleanup for the year.
