BNRP presenting "island" program

Buffalo National River Partners and Boone County Library will present ,“Welcome to the Virgin Islands,” an assessment of damages to historical sites caused by hurricanes. Dr. Caven Clark will conduct the program beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the library in Harrison.

Buffalo National River Partners and Boone County Library will present, “Welcome to the Virgin Islands,” with Dr. Caven Clark, retired BNR Chief of Interpretation & Resource Management, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the library in Harrison.

Attend the first BNRP educational program of 2019 with a tropical flair. There will be hot coffee, cookies and an informative program that will warm everyone up on a cold winter day.

Dr. Clark, recently retired from 14 years at Buffalo National River, was part of a team of National Park Service cultural resource specialists who responded to the back-to-back hurricanes that damaged so many Caribbean Islands in fall of 2017.

Spending the month of April on the island of Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Dr. Clark was assigned to do damage assessments on the islands two most significant prehistoric archeological sites as well as assist with damage assessments of many historic cemeteries.

This program will highlight both the projects and the island and its wonderful people.
