Quorum court resolves to support Issue 4

The Newton County Quorum Court acted on two ordinances and showed support for Issue 4 that will be a state-wide item.

Issue 4, on the November ballot, pertains to the issuance of state general obligation bonds in Arkansas to finance improvements to water-related infrastructure.

Also at the regular scheduled meeting of the Newton County Court on Monday, Aug 3, two ordinances were passed.

Ordinance 26-13 appropriated $159,576.30 in the Mt. Sherman Water Association account. These were grant funds received by the county on behalf of the association.

Ordinance 26-14 appropriated $170,600.00 into the County machinery and equipment account, received as unappropriated, unanticipated, but actual received funds.

The next regular scheduled meeting of the Newton County Quorum Court will be Monday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Newton County courthouse.
