Tarlton Cemetery vandalized

LURTON — Stan Taylor, secretary for Tarlton Cemetery, near Lurton, reported the vandalizing of the donation drop box for the upkeep of the cemetery.

Discovered on Friday June 19, 2026, the lock had been cut with bolt cutters, indicating the intent to access the donation box having a tool necessary to sever the lock. It is unknown if any cash was actually in the box but Taylor urged other cemeteries to frequently check their donation box.

Taylor also reported that Daniel’s Park, next door to the cemetery, had trash strewn around and all the lights turned on.
