Wreck leads to fire

HARRISON — A two-vehicle wreck occurred in front of the 7 Brew coffee shop on US 62/65 North in Harrison on Thursday morning. One of the vehicles involved in that wreck — a Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, encountered more damage after it caught fire mere hours later.
The SUV was removed from the scene of the wreck and towed to D and A Towing's lot on Industrial Park Road. Shortly thereafter, the Harrison Fire Department responded to a report of a fire coming from the vehicle.
Fire Department personnel explained that vehicles involved in wrecks can prove a fire hazard due to impact damages which may lead to a wiring short or other malfunctions that can create spark or heat in the vehicle.

Harrison Fire Department remained on the scene until all signs of heat building up inside the vehicle were cleared. In a show of appreciation for all of their hard work and dedication, the team was treated to pizza by D and A Towing.
A trailer unrelated to the SUV was also damaged by the flames due to its close proximity in the tow yard.
