Wonder Boys fall on the road at Henderson State in mid-week action

Posted

ARKADELPHIA — The Arkansas Tech baseball team traveled to Arkadelphia on Tuesday for a mid-week non-conference game at Henderson State. Tech would drop the game with the Reddies 7-1.
The Wonder Boys were the first to score in the game, doing so with a run in the top of the fourth. That inning saw Sawyer Duddleston hit a one-out double that was then followed by a single through the left side from Kirby Jenkins, moving Duddleston to third. Both runners then moved up 90-feet automatically on a balk called on the Reddies' pitcher.
In the bottom half, Henderson was able to answer by taking advantage of an error, two walks and a hit-by-pitch. The lone hit in the inning was the big one as Henderson scored three runs on a double down the left field line.

That 3-1 score held until the bottom of the fourth when the Reddies were able to put up four runs of insurance and bring the game its eventual final of 7-1.
Tech will now prepare for their penultimate conference series of the season as they will be at home taking on Oklahoma Baptist. With respect to the upcoming Easter holiday, the three-game series is being moved up 24 hours and will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday night at Baswell Field. The series will then conclude with a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1 p.m.
