At approximately 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, the Harrison Police Department received a call from the Forest Heights Elementary School Resource Officer (SRO). The SRO notified the department that what appeared to be a deceased subject had been located on a property adjacent to the school.
Harrison Police Chief Chris Graddy confirmed on Monday night that the subject appeared to have died by suicide, but that the incident is still under investigation. Graddy reported that the event was unrelated to the school itself and that it was unknown whether the deceased subject had been living nearby.
Posts were made to the Harrison School District’s social media pages, as well as those of individual schools on Monday afternoon — notifying that an unspecified incident had occurred near Forest Heights. District parents were also notified of the incident via the schools’ communications app.
The chief indicated that more information would follow after further investigation and that the subject's next of kin were still being notified on Monday.
