Sheriff to host spook house and trick-or-treating again

Posted

Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler has announced he and his office are once again hosting the annual spook house and Trick-or-Treating event at the Historic Old Newton County Jail on Spring Street, just off the square in Jasper. The event will take place on Halloween night (Thursday Oct. 31) from 6-9 p.m.
“This has become an annual event since I became Sheriff and one I, and my staff, really look forward to each year.” Wheeler said. “We love providing a safe and fun environment for the kids of the county and surrounding communities and we love seeing all the costumes. We typically have a few hundred kids show up and really enjoy the interactions!”

Employees of the Sheriff’s Office pitch in to provide the candy to hand out and volunteer their time to decorate the historic building and give spook house tours filled with fun and fright.
Sheriff Wheeler encourages residents of Newton County and the surrounding communities to come see the old jail and take part in a fun evening.
