If you are over the age of 60 and are having trouble finding a ride to Japer for the little things, like groceries, prescriptions, appointments and other errands, the Newton County Senior Activity and Wellness Center in Jasper might be able to help. The center has transportation services available.
Monday, Western Grove to Jasper city limits; Tuesday, Mt. Judea-Vendor to Jasper city limits; Wednesday, Mockingbird Hill, Deer/Nail/Lurton biweekly to Jasper city limits; Thursday, Shiloh, Parthenon, Murray and Mt. Sherman to Jasper city limits and Friday, Jasper city limits.

The center serves lunch Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Those who are 60 and over can dine in at the center for a $4 donation. Under 60, dine for $8.60. Cary out meals for everyone is $8.60. All meals include 8 ounces of 2% milk.

Thursday - Mushroom Swiss burger, tater tot and ice cream sundae.
Friday - Sausage patty, waffle, apple juice, grits and fruit cup.
Monday - Baked fish, garlic mashed cauliflower and squash medley, dinner roll and blueberries and peaches.
Tuesday - Barbecued beef brisket, potato salad, baked backs, cornbread and oatmeal cookie.
Wednesday - Marinated chicken sandwich, waffle fries, baby carrots and pear crisps.
