The Newton County Fair and Rodeo will be kicking off the fair season with the Miss Newton County Princess Academy and Pageant this month.
The Princess Academy is an all new program for young girls to grow in confidence and grace both on and off stage. It is a three-day camp from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be held on May 20-22 at the Newton County Fairgrounds.
Some additional help with preparing meals for the girls as well as hosts for the daily 2 p.m. teas with snacks, said Michelle Martin, organizer. "We will be teaching the girls about etiquette and manners, character qualities of a princess, completing fun crafts, and coaching skills for competition. We still have lots of openings." Scholarships for the Princess Academy are available for families who cannot afford the tuition.
