Pioneers win sixth in row


Hosting its own classic over the weekend, North Arkansas College picked up two double-digit wins.
The Pioneers down Brookhaven of Dallas on Friday night and then beat Fort Scott on Saturday.
Northark downed Fort Scott Community College, 85-69, and Brookhaven, 95-82.

North Arkansas College took control of the game in the second half and defeated Fort Scott Community College of Kan., 85-69.
The Pioneers outscored Fort Scott, 45-33, in the second half.
Northark found itself on the short end of the scoreboard with 9 minutes to go in the first half.
Fort Scott hit back-to-back treys to take a 23-21 lead.
Curtis Fowler hit a free throw for the Pioneers then Trey Pulford drained a trey to put Northark ahead for good at 25-23.
Fowler extended that lead to four points with a basket.
Fort Scott continued to score, but Northark continued to make it a two-possession contest.
Mat Jones pulled down an offensive rebound and scored, After Fort Scott hit a free throw, Jordyn Turner also secured a rebound on the offensive end and scored.

Both teams traded free throws as Jones hit the pair for the home team.
Then both teams knocked down treys. Isaiah Payne hit the long shot for Northark.
The Pioneers opened its largest lead of the second half. Payne hit a free throw and then Turner hit a three-point play to give Northark a 40-34 lead.
Turner hit one last charity toss to set the halftime score at 41-36.
Northark 95, Brookhaven 82
The Pioneers of Northark, scored 50 first half points and held on for a 95-82 win.
Northark hit 41 percent of its shots from the floor. The team also hit 35.3 of its 3-point attempts.
Jones continued to lead the team in scoring. He had 20 points in the game followed by 19 from Turner.
Kelsey Tarver and Pulford had 11 points each and I’Ryan Allen added 10, Payne nine, James Parlow eight, Kardell Sims four and Jai Graham three.
Jones led the team with 10 rebounds, Sims nine and Parlow seven.
Allen had six steals and five assists in the game.
