HARRISON — A structure on Pine Street is destroyed on Sunday, Feb. 23. The demolition is taking place at the planned site of a new Dollar General Market store. A second Dollar General location — on the Downtown Square, which closed following an act of arson, is rumored to be slated for renovation and reopening.
City officials reported on Nov. 8 last year, via the City's official Facebook, that Dollar General's real estate manager said the downtown location was scheduled to reopen in late December or early January, but that timeline did not occur.
On Feb. 12, Harrison Fire Chief Marc Lowery and others met with a fire sprinkler company and contractors at the downtown location. No plans were in place yet for the building, but Lowery expressed hope that something would be planned soon.
