MOUNTAIN VIEW — Stone Bank presents Fiddle & Clog, an evening concert featuring clogging virtuoso and Grand Master Fiddle Champion April Verch and multi-instrumentalist Cody Walters at the Ozark Folk Center State Park on Saturday, September 7th. The show will begin with a performance by talented youth performers in the Music Roots Program in the Mountain View area.
The concert will take place at the state park’s 1,000-seat indoor music venue, Ozark Highlands Theater, beginning at 7 p.m., followed by a feature performance by April Verch and Cody Walters. The Fiddle & Clog event is proudly sponsored by Stone Bank.
“Stone Bank has deep roots in Stone County and a history of supporting the Ozark Folk Center and Ozark Highlands Radio,” said Vice President of Stone Bank Kirby Williams. “We’re very proud to contribute to the ongoing legacy of folk music in the community by sponsoring the Music Roots program. We’re also very proud of all the students who are interested in carrying on the Folk Center’s traditions and look forward to hearing them at this showcase.”
About guest stars April Verch and Cody Walters:
This husband-and-wife duo is a partnership of kindred musical spirits, each a world-class musician. Combining their unique backgrounds from Verch’s native Ottawa Valley and Walters’ heartland roots in Kansas, their music showcases endless creativity and versatility—transitioning effortlessly from traditional Ottawa Valley step dancing and fiddle tunes to old-time fiddle-banjo duets with tight-knit vocal harmonies to innovative sandpaper foot percussion, all contrasted against Verch’s sweet soprano voice.
Together they have traveled to four continents, performed in 14 countries, and played everywhere, from tiny pubs and dusty festival workshops all the way to legendary stages such as the Kennedy Center and the Ryman Auditorium.
Tickets to Stone Bank Presents: Fiddle & Clog featuring April Verch and Cody Walters are $15 for adults and $6 for children (6-12 years old) and are available online at OzarkFolkCenter.Ticketleap.com. Tickets cost $2 more at the door. Season passes are honored at the event. Family passes are available for $37 and include admission for two adults and children under 18.
The Music Roots Program teaches traditional stringband instruments, including banjo, fiddle, guitar, mountain dulcimer and upright bass, to public school and homeschool children in Stone County beginning in the fourth grade. The program is sponsored by Stone Bank, the Mountain View Bluegrass Assoc., the Committee of 100 for the Ozark Folk Center, Old Time Ozark Traditions, and the Ozark Folk Center State Park.
If you need a place to stay during the weekend of the concert, The Cabins at Dry Creek, located on-site, offer homespun decor, modern comforts, and an outdoor swimming pool between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Rooms are located just down the hill from the Skillet Restaurant and Craft Village, and a shuttle service is provided for cabin guests who attend music at the theater.
