On Friday, Nov. 8 (2024) Ozark Mountain High School held a heartfelt ceremony to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The event featured students, faculty, and veterans coming together in a vibrant celebration of patriotism and gratitude.
The ceremony began with a presentation of colors. This tribute, symbolized through the display of flags, set the tone for the event, honoring the sacrifices made by service members. Adding to the moment, students Jeremiah Bars, William Burish, and Aidan Armstrong played the trumpet and snare drum, providing stirring musical accompaniment.
Following the presentation of colors, several students took the stage to deliver speeches they had written to express their gratitude to the attending veterans. Speakers included Jasmine Fletcher, Noah Hinson, and Malachi Martin. Their words captured the respect and admiration felt throughout the school for those who have served.
The ceremony was led by Byron Clyatt, social studies teacher at Ozark Mountain High School, who opened with a welcoming speech before leading attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. Following Mr. Clyatt, Mr. Smith, the school’s career adviser, gave a moving performance of Jamie Johnson’s song "In Color." Fourth-grade students, directed by music teacher Jacqueline Dymek, following Mr. Smith, performed the song "Red, White, and Blue."
