Newton County Fair opens with ATV Rodeo Aug. 10

An ATV rodeo Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Newton County Fairgrounds Arena is sure to rev things up for the start of the 2024 Newton County Fair which formally begins Aug. 16.
The ATV rodeo will consist of barrels, lap race and obstacle course. The entry fee is kids 12 and under, $10, youth and adults, $20. Everyone pays at the gate.
An additional drag race event for contestants 18 and over costs an additional $10 fee.
Kids will receive a trophy, Youth and adult events will receive cash payback.
Registration is set for 4:30 p.m. with the riders meeting at 5:30 p.m. The Rodeo will begin at 6 p.m.

The 2024 Newton County Fair opens at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, with the Truck and Tractor Pull sponsored by Wood Motor Company. Gates open at 5 p.m.
The Newton County Fair Board has announced its 2024 fair catalogue is now available on-line and that hard copies of the contest rules and events schedule will soon be available in hard copy.

The theme of this year's fair is "Boots, Jeans & Newton County Dreams." The annual event will run Aug. 16-25.
It has been noted that this year's season is dedicated to the late Alice Williams who served as a fair board member and officer for 15 years.
2024 Schedule of Events
Saturday, Aug. 10 – ATV Rodeo - Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. ATV Rodeo begins at 6 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 16 – Wood Motor Company Truck Pull - Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. Truck Pull begins at 6 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 18 – Exhibit check-in from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Livestock check-in from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Monday, Aug. 19 – Exhibit Buildings will be closed for judging, which begins at 9 a.m. Buildings reopen after judging until 9 p.m. The youth Livestock Show is at 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 20 – Buyers’ dinner at 6 p.m. Premium Sale starts at approximately 7 p.m. (All showmen who have animals that make premium sale will be required to participate in the Newton County Fair and Rodeo Parade on Saturday, Aug. 26.) Cookie Jar Scholarship Auction will be held during the Premium Sale. All livestock entries will be released after the premium sale.
Wednesday, Aug. 21 – closed.
Thursday, Aug. 22 – John Villines’ Memorial Bull Jam - 8 p.m. Arena gates and registration for Mutton Bustin open at 6:30 p.m. Mutton Bustin’ at 7 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 23 – Ramsey Motor Company Rodeo at 8 p.m. Arena gates and Mutton Bustin registration open at 6:30 p.m. Mutton Bustin’ at 7 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 24 – Fair Parade at 10 a.m. Line up at Jasper School. Ramsey Motor Company Rodeo at 8 p.m. Arena gates and Mutton Bustin registration open at 6:30 p.m. Mutton Bustin at 7 p.m. Mutton Bustin' championship round during rodeo.
Sunday, Aug. 25 – Check Out ALL Exhibits from exhibit buildings from 12 to 2 p.m. ONLY
