Lady Pioneers win homecoming contest

HARRISON — North Arkansas College had two celebrations on Saturday afternoon.
The college celebrated homecoming and induction to the Hall of Fame.
There was also a basketball game. The Lady Pioneers faced Crowder College. Northark won the 76-48.
Northark moved out to an 11-point lead by halftime. However, a solid third period put the game on ice for the home team.
The Lady Pioneers outscored Crowder, 14-5, in the frame. They moved their lead to 57-37.
In the final frame, Northark outscored the Lady Rough Riders, 19-11.
Northark held a 22-17 lead after the first period and then moved ahead, 43-32, at the midway point.
The Lady Pioneers had a solid night shooting the basketball. The team was 30-of-53 from the field for 56.6 percent.
The team was 5-11 from behind the arc for 45.5 percent. The squad was 11-of-18 from the free throw line for 61.1 percent.
Leading the Lady Pioneers in scoring was Karsen Edwards with 29 points. Sdyney Standridge added 19, Kailynn Garis nine, Samantha George seven, Abby Hodges six, Kessa Willis five and Cayley Patrick one.
Standridge and Willis led the team in rebounds with eight each. Patrick had six.
Patrick had five steals and Willis had four.
Northark was back in action on Monday night as they traveled to Camden to play Southern Arkansas University Tech. The next Lady Pioneer home game will be Feb. 17 when Johnson County Community College comes to town.
