Jasper teams fall in tourney

The Jasper Pirates and Lady Pirates took their diamond skills to the Class 1A State Baseball Tournament and the Class 1A State Softball Tournament.
Harrison's Equity Sports Complex hosted the tournaments.
In baseball action, the Pirates fell to Mt. Ida, 14-2.
The loss ends the Pirates' season.
Jasper's Lady Pirates were opposite Taylor.
Taylor won the contest, 16-0, eliminating Jasper from the tournament.
Action continued on Friday and the semifinals will be on Saturday.
The finals will be scheduled for next week, but the dates will be determined after the teams reach the finals. Graduation dates of the schools will be used. The finals will not interfere with the school's ceremony.
In other first round baseball action, Conway St. Joseph blanked Concord, 11-0; Bearden breezed by Scranton, 8-0; Hillcrest outlasted Guy-Perkins, 6-3; Norfork survived Columbia Christian, 8-7; Greers Ferry Westside breeze by Nemo Vista, 12-2; Taylor closed Magazine, 10-0; and Midland eliminated Marked Tree, 12-1.
The softball tournament started with a wild one as Morrilton Sacred Heart advanced by Marked Tree, 15-14; County Line moved on with a 9-0 win over Mineral Springs; Concord beat Conway St. Joseph, 8-3; Magazine outlasted Bradley, 6-4; Scranton thumped Mt. Ida, 10-0; Bradford bested Calico Rock, 5-4; and Greers Ferry Westside was a run better than Nemo Vista, 6-5.
