Six members were present at the May 8 meeting of the Jasper Pioneers Extension Homemakers Club. After the Pledge, devotion, and roll call, President Betty Stivers introduced the speaker, Carla Gray, director of the Learning Center of North Arkansas. Gray spoke of the services the center offers including speech therapy and transportation. There are still openings at the new facility in Jasper.

The slate of officers was accepted and voted on as follows: President Betty Stivers, Vice President Terry Edwards, Secretary Pat Dixon and Treasurer Hope Masley.

On June 12, members will leave the Mt. Sherman Community Building at 10 a.m. and car pool to the Auxarc Botanicals' lavender farm at Compton.

The club voted to donate $500 to the Newton County Senior Activity and Wellness Center.

Masley was the meeting's hostess.

The club recorded 78.5 volunteer hours for April.
