Newton County 4-H'ers Attend Activities
"A plane ride to Fayetteville, then by airport limousine to the University of Arkansas Campus" - this flight plan made Newton County 4-H'ers Joe and Marsha Mueller first registrants at the 32nd University 4-H Club Week program.
The brother and sister travelers headed up an attendance list of almost 1,000 club workers, adult leaders and Extension workers. Unlike the Muellers who were treated to their first plane ride by their parents, the majority of the participants came by car and bus. Among the featured activities of the week were special sessions on career and education opportunities at the University, plus member participation in 22 competitive activities including new judging categories of photography, drama, appropriate wear, and modeling.
The six 4-H senior club members that represented Newton County were; Elaine Phillips, Parthenon Club-Citizenship; Joy Butts, Pioneer Club-Dress Revue; Marsha Mueller, Buffalo Kids Club-Modeling; Jimmy Rowe, Pioneer Club-Crop Judging; Joe Mueller, Buffalo Kids Club-Tractor Driving and Danny Oldham, Pioneer Club-Citizenship.
