he Food Bank of North Central Arkansas has announced an investment of $240,000 into school districts that are a part of the Food Bank’s network of partner hunger relief organizations. These TANF School Food Pantry Grants are designed to assist with the development or continuation of thirteen school food pantries across the region:
Alpena, Lead Hill and Omaha school districts received first year grants of $30,000 each.
Calico Rock, Cave City, Cotter, Flippin, Harrison, Jasper, Mammoth Spring, Mountain Home, Mountain View and Searcy County school districts each received returning grants of $20,000 each.
Local school districts along with schools from across the state are benefiting from a partnership of the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas, Feeding America food banks across the state and the Temporary Assistance for Needing Families program. Statewide $1.8 million has been invested in this work for the 2023/2024 school year.
Food Bank of North Central Arkansas CEO, Jeff Quick, stated “We’re thrilled to be able to assist our partners across the region. Our hope is that these grants will allow school districts to meet the needs of students and children struggling with food insecurity.
