RUSSELLVILLE — Arkansas Tech University hosted more than 1,700 high school Future Farmers of America students for career development events and competitions on Thursday, March 13.
ATU President Dr. Russell Jones helped welcome the FFA members to campus during an opening ceremony at Tucker Coliseum. “It is always exciting when we get the opportunity to host students with an interest in agriculture, agriculture business and agricultural education on our campus,” said Jones.
“Agriculture is in the DNA of our university. You might not know this, but the original name of Arkansas Tech University was the Second District Agricultural School," shared Jones.
“For the past 115 years, Arkansas Tech has grown and evolved to become the regional, comprehensive university we are today,” he continued. “But agriculture has always remained an important part of who we are, and I do not believe that will ever change.”
