Explore the science and lore of Ozark gardening in three intensive workshops

MOUNTAIN VIEW — Interested members of the community are invited to join three gardening intensives at the Heritage Herb Garden at Ozark Folk Center State Park to learn the science and lore of gardening in the Ozarks.
The first intensive is Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the second intensive is Saturday, March 22 and the third intensive is Saturday, April 5. These workshops will build on each other, so interested students should plan to attend all three Saturdays.
Students who wish to continue will be invited to attend twice monthly garden intensives throughout 2025. There are opportunities for students who graduate from the program to become contract gardeners and docents in the Heritage Herb Garden.
The Heritage Herb Garden at the Ozark Folk Center State Park is a year-around garden program that includes propagating plants in the greenhouse in the winter, building and establishing garden beds in the park, and maintaining a collection of native plants, medicinal and culinary herbs; and pass-along plants. The Heritage Herb Garden was established in 1986 by the Committee of One Hundred for the Ozark Folk Center as a living resource perpetuating, growing and sharing the traditions of plants and people in the Ozarks. Over the last 40 years, the garden has been led by Tina Marie Wilcox. She has gathered, documented, and practiced in-depth plant knowledge from people around the world.
